A review of the Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Blue) has been posted over at CNET. ‘The top compartment is large enough to hold a hardcover book, sunglasses in a case, and other miscellany. There are a couple spaces to slide in pens, a mesh pocket that can handle a largish MP3 player, a small pocket sized for a typical cell phone, and another flap pocket that I use for holding business and credit cards. A few free-floating pouches or dividers and a way to Velcro them in place would be useful to keep random items organized, though. On the front is a free-form zippered compartment.’

PC Magazine have published a review of the Dash Express portable navigation system. ‘The Dash Express measures a sizable 4.1 by 4.8 by 2.8 inches (HWD) and weighs in at a beefy 13.5 ounces. Despite having a built-in rechargeable battery for portable operation, it's clearly designed to take permanent residence on your dashboard. In fact, the included 3.3-inch suction cup is the largest I've seen bundled with a GPS, but it does create a solid mount. The bracket has a metal ball-and-socket mechanism, which lets you easily position the Dash Express for the best viewing angle. Power is supplied through the bracket, so you can remove the unit without having to unplug it. For vehicles with a steeply sloped windshield, a bracket extension is included. Also in the box: an AC adapter, a USB cable, a protective pouch, a quick start guide, and an installation guide.’

Sarah Meyer writing over at Notebook Review has posted a review of the Belkin Travel Power Adapter. ‘Belkin's Travel Power Adapter is white with a gray cord. There is an AC plug and power tip connector attached permanently to either end of the power adapter. The power tip connector is used to connect one of 11 power tips based on the notebook you own. The cord is over 64 inches from the AC plug to the base and 72 inches from the base to the power tip so basically you can work on your notebook over 11 ft. from the power outlet. The car adapter cord is about 20 inches and it attaches to the base of the power adapter. This combination can give you about 7 ft. of length. On the base of the adapter is a USB port for devices that can be charged via USB power.’

Not only can you take pride in your gleaming bodywork, but you will also have helped slow the steady drop in the vehicle’s resale price by adding protection to the paint. You have to graft for it, though – and let’s be honest, this is a big job. With very few exceptions, you need to go over the entire car at least twice, applying and buffing the polish. With some products, there will even be three stages to be worked through. Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Toshiba TekBright Digital Photo Frame. ‘Not all photo frames are created equal though, so what does Toshiba bring to the table with the TekBright Photo Frame? Well, at first glance impressions are certainly good. The frame's bezel, while perhaps a tad large, is finished in an attractive and very in-vogue piano black so it should fit in with just about any room's décor, be that Chinese lantern orange or flamingo pink - not that I'm speaking from experience I hasten to add. On the downside and to be fully expected this surface is an absolute magnet for finger prints which quickly litter the whole front surface. This means that if anyone wishes to take a closer look at the displayed images you'll need a cloth handy to give the TekBright a quick once over. At least Toshiba hasn't succumbed to the temptation to plaster the front of the frame with logos. Quite why so many manufacturers believe customers' photos are likely to be enhanced by such an addition is frankly unfathomable so kudos to Toshiba for taking heed of that fact/’

A review of the Ansmann Portable notebook charger has been posted over at Pocket-Lint. ‘The battery pack is slim and can be slipped in to your carry case with the minimum of fuss. It isn't exactly light, weighing 900g, but it's a fair trade-off for what it has to offer. There are two varieties on offer, one for Windows users and another for Apple PowerBooks and iBooks. Both work in exactly the same way but the difference is the range of adapters that are shipped, with the Apple version being more specific. When charging you'll find an LED light flashing, as would the light on your notebook. There are also lights to indicate how much charge is left in the pack itself, which is necessary if you're relying on it for a final top-up.

Shockwave2™ combines two of DBI-SALA’s most popular lanyard styles

RED WING, Minn. — DBI-SALA, a Capital Safety brand, introduces the Shockwave2™ Tie-Back Lanyard, combining the elastic leg feature of the original Shockwave™ with the benefits of a tie-back lanyard.

The tie-back feature eliminates the need for a separate anchorage connector by allowing the lanyard to be wrapped around a structural element with a diameter of up to 3 feet and connected back onto the leg of the lanyard. The lanyard also expands to 6 feet and retracts to 4.5 feet in reaction to the worker’s movement, staying out of the worker’s way and thus reducing trip hazards, dragging and snagging.

“An anchorage connector is not needed with the Shockwave2TM,” said Nate Bohmbach, Product Manager for Softgoods with Capital Safety, “so there is less equipment to buy, which will reduce the amount of inventory companies need to have on hand as well as the total cost of fall protection programs.”

The Shockwave2™ is abrasion-resistant, with polyester tube webbing to protect the core of the lanyard. It is also equipped with two indicator stitches; one that identifies the furthest point the user should tie-back to, and another to notify the user or inspector that the lanyard has been impacted and must be taken out of service. One end of the lanyard is outfitted with a 3,600 lb. gated ANSI compliant snap hook for connection to a harness; the other has a carabiner rated to 5,000 lbs. in all directions for tie-back use. The lanyard limits fall arrest forces below OSHA/ANSI requirements for added safety.

The Shockwave2™ Tie-Back Lanyard is available in a single leg or twin leg model for 100 percent tie-off. The lanyards are ANSI Z359.1 2007 and OSHA 1926 compliant and are i-Safe™ enabled.

The handheld electric tools were tested according to the relevant safety requirements of UL60745-2-2/CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60745-2-2:2004 standard. The EF-Series are low voltage DC electric screwdrivers. These rugged assembly tools increase productivity and enhance product quality through precision torque control and user comfort. The electric screwdrivers automatically stop when the preset torque has been reached.

The electric screwdriver models require a power supply to operate. The STC 30 Plus power supply operates all EF-Series models and the unit is also NRTL certified. The temperature detection powers down the unit and resets automatically when unit restores to acceptable levels. Pocket-Lint have published a review of the Proporta Mobile Device Charger Micro which is a compact, high powered rechargeable battery which charges from any standard USB port. 'It comes with two ports, the first is a full sized USB port you use for charging the battery itself directly from your PC or notebook, while the second is a mini-USB port for connecting to the portable device that needs charging. A row blue five LED lights indicates how much charge is left in the battery pack. It can store up to 1700mAh of power, which isn’t going to charge a notebook but for smaller gadgets it's fine. It ships with a variety of attachments, ranging from iPods to a variety of smartphones but its worth checking with the website before buying to see if your gear is supported.'

Pouches allow convenient access to tools for workers at height Harnesses

RED WING, Minn. — To keep productivity high, an employee requires quick access to all the tools he or she needs at a jobsite. However, working at heights does not always allow for convenient access to a toolbox. With this challenge in mind, Capital Safety has developed a line of tool bags designed to connect effortlessly and securely to full body harnesses.

DBI-SALA’s line of tool bags includes an 11-pocket and 15-pocket model. The 11-pocket bag accommodates a variety of tools and fasteners including a combination square and pry bar. The 15-pocket model includes an iron hammer loop and removable top pouch for a tape measure.

The tool bags attach effortlessly to most full body harnesses by sliding onto the belt before buckling, ensuring a secure connection. The bags are constructed of 1680D ballistic nylon with PVC reinforced pouch bases for puncture and tear resistance. Nickel-plated iron storm drains keep pouches ventilated while plated iron rivets reinforce stress points.

A review of the compact Powermonkey eXplorer portable solar charger has been posted over at Digital Reviews Network. 'The powermonkey eXplorer arrived ready to hit the deck running. Included in the travel pouch was a good selection of connectors for both the wall socket and gadget ends. Additionally the eXplorers are shipped pre-charged to 60 percent of capacity. My unit came in an industrial grey and black colour scheme, although there is a choice of yellow, pink and blue also available. The powermonkey eXplorer looks a bit like a hand grip with an LCD screen built into it. There is a fixed cable on the discharging end and port inlet for the recharging end. Both have heavy duty, snug fitting rubber bungs to protect the ends when not in use. The unit looks and feels solid, water resistant and all connections are a very firm fit and hence is unlikely to "just fall out".'
