Press Release

Comprehensive line of tools has features that make them more durable and easier to use.

Conyers, GA, - Stanley Proto has just added an entirely new line of locking pliers to its family of industrial tools. The line includes 48 individual SKUs, in a variety of designs that will earn their keep in any workplace. Like all locking pliers, each of the new Proto models uses a jaw-locking mechanism to create a hands-free vise grip. But Proto has gone a step further with this line, by adding features that make them easier to use and more durable.

These include:

Features that enhance ease of use:
• The tip of the locking mechanism's spring-loaded release lever projects past the end of the handle. This design allows the user to quickly and easily release the jaw, especially when the tool is firmly locked. It also reduces the chance that users will pinch their fingers.
• Springs are made from high quality piano wire for smooth and efficient jaw opening

Features that increase durability:
• Tools are coated with a black epoxy coated finish that's up to 10 times more corrosion-resistant than nickel, as well as more spatter-resistant, and easier to see on the workbench. Welders will like the fact that black jaws are less reflective.
• Drop forged jaws help make these tools tough and durable.
• Precisely machined teeth with a positive grip keep the jaws in place on the work.
• Joints are secured by large diameter rivets, adding to the durability and robustness of the tools.
• Rivet holes in the mobile jaw are drilled rather than press punched to ensure maximum bearing. (Punched holes tend give poor bearing.)

The above features have been added to the entire line of Proto Locking Pliers. The new line includes:
• Full-size Locking Pliers with enough different jaw sizes and profiles - straight, curved, convex, long nose - to clamp onto a wide variety of shapes.
• Locking Chain Pliers for removing oil filters or holding odd shapes for welding.
• Chain Cutters for cutting through nearly any size or type of pipe.
• Sheet Metal Pliers with wide, flat jaws for clamping and bending sheet metal.
• Lightweight Aluminum Alloy Clamps that won't weld to the work piece. Their light weight makes them easy to handle and reduces the risk of warping auto body panels.
• C-Clamps and Welding Pliers in a wide enough selection hold nearly any shaped object for welding.
• A line of Miniature Pliers for fine and delicate work - from handcrafts such as jewelry assembly and repair, to laboratory work, to fine auto-servicing jobs.
• A new Ergo-Grip Plier. This new generation of long-nose Locking Plier has a pistol grip design, with the head offset 70 degrees from the handle. The design allows the user to exert up - more force in twisting applications. It also helps keep the wrist straight during use, helping to reduce strain and general fatigue. The grip is cushioned to increase comfort and reduce slippage.

Although all of these tools can be purchased individually, the models that that are most frequently used together have been combined in sets. These include sets of long-nosed pliers, welding pliers and clamps, and a hands free kit.
