A review of the APC Back-UPS ES 700VA outlet has been posted over at Computeractive. 'The device has eight mains sockets on its top panel (it's sold in several countries, so make sure you buy one with British sockets). All eight of them are surge-protected so that if lightning strikes you should be safe. Only four of them are connected to the UPS part of the device, so only the four devices plugged into them will be protected if the external power goes out. Not just anything can be plugged into it - it's certified for around 400W of power, which is enough for a computer, monitor and a couple of peripherals.'

CNET have published a review of the Pogoplug multimedia sharing device. 'The original Pogoplug got its name because it was a big wall wart: you could plug it directly into a wall AC outlet (though an extension cord was provided as well). Alas, the new Pogoplug needs to stand on a table or other surface and uses a long power cord by default. The squat and somewhat bulky box now has three USB 2.0 ports in the rear and one poking out the front above a Pogoplug logo that lights up when the box is powered on. The box looks large enough to possibly house its own storage, but that isn't the case: you still have to plug in your own USB-connected hard drives or thumb drives. With four attached at once you'll have an impressive almost NAS-like online multidrive, but the setup will also look bulky and full of snaky USB wires. The Pogoplug 2 has a curved, springy stand that doubles as a cable organizer, but there's no rack or method to hold plugged-in hard drives.'

A review of the Doc Allen's VersaTool has been posted over at The Gadgeteer. 'Doc Allen's Versatool is an interesting design- a 1/4″ socket holder is mounted on a sturdy metal oval. It comes with a 1/4″ socket to hex bit magnetic adapter. The adapter has crosshatching etched into the side so you can use it alone for a low-torque driver. It also comes with an extension bit for hex drivers, and 22 assorted hex bits- slotted, Phillips, and Allen (with some duplicates. See the note at the end.) All of this fits neatly in a small zippered pouch with a simple belt loop.'
