New Fixture Housing is Compatible with Existing HID Tear Drop Fixtures
GRANVILLE, OH -- The same historically styled tear drop luminaires that graced America's boulevards during the first half of the 20th century are now available with LEDs. New Tear Drop LED Series luminaires feature high performance optics for true street lighting performance, with robust die cast construction to maximize energy efficiency and reliability.
Tear Drop LED Series luminaires offer other features:
- Dedicated thermal management system for source and component longevity
- Traditional daytime styling to facilitate a visually appealing design
- Tool-less access to all components to ease maintenance
"Designers have the opportunity to combine the visual appeal of a historic looking luminaire with the reliability and longevity represented by LED technology," said Ben Prichard, Holophane Outdoor Senior Product Manager. "Holophane backs the new fixtures with the thermal testing needed to identify the optimal LED module operating temperatures, which are critical to reliability, longer life and high lumen output."
The new LED tear drop luminaires are designed for use with existing Holophane tear drop units and pole locations to reduce purchase and installation costs. The fixtures include a modular design with a compatible permanent glass optical lens that allows existing luminaires to be fully converted to LED simply by replacing the heart of the housing.
New Tear Drop LED luminaires are available in multiple styles and sizes to accommodate a range of lighting needs: Esplanade, 24 inches and 34 inches long; Memphis, 24.38 inches and 34.38 inches long; Boulevard, 27 inches long; and Port Huron, 27.38 inches long. The fixtures' cast aluminum door supports a tear drop, bowl or sag-shaped thermal-resistant borosilicate glass refractor that provides asymmetric cut off distribution.
Tear Drop LED luminaires are ideal for lighting historic districts and a range of other applications, including city streets, urban boulevards, parks, commercial developments, campuses and parking lots. The fixtures are UL/CUL listed suitable for wet locations and are IP66 rated.
