A chain-mount bracket that attaches their universal air-powered saw to pipe and bar stock quickly for applications requiring multiple cuts in the shop or on the job site is available from ESCO Tool of Medfield, Massachusetts.

The Esco Single Cut Bracket securely clamps their APS-438 Air Powered Saw onto a pipe or bar stock up to 4" O.D. and allows it to make square cuts with ±1/16" accuracy. Operating on 90 psi air, this saw has a rugged 3 HP motor, includes a standard grease fitting, safety throttle handle and relief valve, and uses either 10" or 12" fiberglass reinforced abrasive blades.

Toolmonger have published a "Hands on" review of the Ridgid - R2138NA 2-1/8” Brad Nailer. 'The nailer itself is extremely light, but feels very durable. It has a light magnesium, and sweet gray grippy-rubber wrapped around the handle — all of which makes for a nice feel in your hand. After a quick rummage through the rest of the box, we found a pair of safety glasses that Ridgid had thoughtfully included plus a swivel air hook-up which we quickly mounted on the rear of the unit.'

The new POP ProSet 2500 rivet tool from Emhart Teknologies measures 11.42 in.L x 10.20 in.H and features lightweight polymer handle, 2-finger, low-activation force trigger, and directional air exhaust to keep air away from tool user. 'The ProSet® 2500 rivet tool is the latest member of the POP® power rivet tool family and continues Emhart Teknologies' ongoing effort to provide high performance lightweight, easy to maintain fastening installation tools. The 2500 weighs in at only 2.65 lbs. (1.20kg) and 2.89 pounds (1.31kg) with the Mandrel Collection System (MCS), yet can set any rivet from 3 to 6 size. It is only 11.42 inches (290mm) long and 10.20" (259mm) high; but with a stroke of .71 inches (18mm), it can set long rivets in one pull of the trigger. Air consumption is minimal, requiring only .076 cu. ft. (2.15 cu. liters) per rivet set.'

The folks over at Toolmonger tested the Husky 26-Gallon Vertical Air Compressor over the period of a couple months and have posted their assessment in a review of the compress or's operation. 'It’s a “vertical” style compressor, which means that the tank stands up instead of lying down. It takes up surprisingly little floor space — about the same as a small pancake compressor – covering a 21” x 21” patch of concrete and standing 45-1/2” tall. It also features wheels on the bottom so you can roll it around the shop or out to a wounded vehicle in need of some air. Perched atop the 26-gallon tank you’ll find a 110V-powered, 1.5 HP electric compressor motor which turns on and off with a smart-looking red switch. Two gauges on top monitor air pressure inside the tank (right) and the pressure going to the tool attachments (left). A knob allows you to adjust the output pressure according to the need of the tool you’re using at the moment.'

The new long handle SX sanders from Chicago Pneumatic (CP) are intended for use in woodworking and metal finishing and can be operated by either single- or two-handled control. 'Available in 5 and 6 in. dia models, SX Series rotates at 12,000 rpm and comes in non-vacuum, self-vacuum, and external vacuum models. Rotating exhaust silencer on non-vacuum and external vacuum units directs exhaust air 30° away from operator. Temperature-insulating, oil-resistant handle enables comfortable positioning for single- or 2-handled control. Equipped with 0.3 hp motor, sanders are rated for 2,000 hr of service and come with Velcro-backed or optional self-adhesive pads.'

There is no need to slam that hammer onto your thumb instead of the nail-head when there is an alternative which eliminates the risk of the mishap. The Brad [power tool] Nailer can be used in place of the ordinary hammer on several jobs and to great advantage.
