iRobot Roomba 560 Review – Register Hardware

iRobot-Roomba-560-Review.jpg

The Register Hardware have published a review of the iRobot Roomba 560 robot vacuum cleaner. ‘The Roomba is cleverly programmed, and it's a treat to watch it skimming along next to a skirting board, its little side brush whirling to scoop all the crud from the edge of the room. It does a lot better than you'd think at getting into corners, too. All in all, it's a nice piece of engineering, though in many ways the simplicity of the controls is rather a disappointment. For a gadget this expensive, you're almost expecting to be offered a Wi-Fi web interface or an icon moving around on a map of your house or something. You'd be totally out of luck with that last one, as the Roomba doesn't know where it is. It detects walls and so on at short range, and the little IR beacons on the virtual-barrier/lighthouse units and the power dock from across a room, but otherwise it's blind.’

DC22 Dyson Baby Vacuum Cleaner Review - Pocket-Lint

DC22-Dyson-Baby-vacuum-cleaner.jpg

Pocket-Lint have published a review of the DC22 Dyson Baby vacuum cleaner. 'The DC22 Dyson Baby is a compact cylinder, one-third smaller than other Dyson cylinders. Its telescopic wand packs down and its hose wraps neatly around its body for tidy storage. Not as obviously small as the also launched DC24, the DC22 still comes with the same technology, so you get the patented Root Cyclone technology, bagless cleaning and a retractable power cord. In an attempt to keep the suction at its max, Dyson say its engineers have taken this technology one stage further and developed core separator technology to capture even more microscopic dirt. The dirt goes through three stages including spinning it at 500Gs.'

Dyson DC16 Root 6 Animal Vacuum Review – Pocket Lint

Dyson-DC16-Root-6-Handheld-Vacuum.jpg

A review of the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Animal vacuum cleaner has been posted over at Pocket Lint. ‘The handheld device, which looks more like a prop from a Sci-Fi movie that something you use to clean your house or car with promises a good amount of suck for your buck. Surprisingly lightweight the design is futuristic and manly enough to be happy to be seen with on your drive, and those worried that it will be a lovely mauve colour like previous models will be pleased to see its grey and bronze. In practice on the boot of a couple of cars (our neighbours where very happy with the offer of a free valet) and the suck, it has to be said, is good.’

iRobot Roomba 560 Review - PC Mag

iRobot-Roomba-560.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the new iRobot Roomba 560 vacuuming tool. 'In many ways, the Roomba 560 can be viewed as a direct attempt to solve some of the problems that plagued iRobot's previous model, the Roomba Discovery. The 560 in many ways is a beefier, souped-up Discovery. It uses the same basic arrangement of Roombas before it, relying on a floor-situated Home Base charging station to keep its battery topped off—though the Home Base now comes in white or black instead of gray. The 560 weighs a full 8 pounds, more than the Discovery's 6.4 pounds, and the added girth accommodates the robot's larger wheels and increased dust-bin capacity (33 percent bigger, according to iRobot). With a round, flat body reminiscent of a deep-dish pizza or horseshoe crab, the robot has two primary wheels each with its own motor and suspension system.'

Review: Waterless Hand Cleaners - WebBikeWorld

Waterless-Hand-Cleaners.jpg

A review of the WORX All Natural Hand Cleaner and Zogics CitraWipe Degreaser and Hand Cleaner has been posted over at WebBikeWorld. 'I'm sure there are lots more waterless hand cleaners out there and I'm hoping that our visitors will respond by sending us their tips and tricks for keeping clean whilst on the road. In the meantime, let's take a look at two interesting products, Zogics CitraWipes and WORX All Natural Hand Cleaner. WORX isn't actually a waterless hand cleaner, although I didn't discover that detail until I finally read the instructions on the back of the package the first time I used it. But I'm including it here because it works -- if you'll pardon the pun -- very well indeed.'

Review: The iRobot DirtDog – Toolmonger

iRobot-Dirt-Dog.bmp

Toolmonger have posted their review of the iRobot DirtDog garage/workroom sweeper. ‘The iRobot ships in a box that’s not much bigger than the robot itself. For something this futuristic — it’s a robot that cleans for you! — there are few separate parts and there’s little assembly. The ‘Dog ships with its battery, a brick-type power supply for charging, and the same small cleaning tool that comes with the Roomba. It’s kinda difficult to see in pictures, but the ‘Dog is significantly larger than its Roomba brethren. This is in part due to the thoughtful addition of a much larger debris bin; garages and shops get a bit messier than living rooms — or at least they should.’

DysonRoot6.jpg

Cool Hunting has reviewed the Dyson Root 6 handheld (vacuum) tool. 'In CH's tests, we were impressed by the Root's ability to clean the long hair of a sheepskin rug, the dust chamber's convenient design (a latch releases a flap to empty directly over a garbage can), and the fun of seeing the dirt whirl around in the clear plastic bin. Other features include LED indicator lights, washable filters that never need replacing, a brush tool (with a lint extension) and a separate narrow crevice accessory.'

Giant Swiss Army Knife At Engadget

Giant%20Swiss%20Army%20Knife.jpg

The Swiss Army Knife has apparently come in for a massive upgrade with the addition of several new miniature tools to the traditional toolset. I am not so sure of how the added weight of this item will agree with those who like to lug around with these "tools" in their pockets but the flexibility of having new capabilities should override any concern. 'Wenger, the manufacturer of the classic Swiss Army Knife, has revealed a 9-inch long, 2-pound "knife" which carries 85 instruments, or: almost every tool that has ever been on a Swiss Army Knife, ever. The list includes seven different knives, a golf shoe spike wrench, a bike chain rivet setter, and a laser pointer with a 300ft range (but where's the freakin' USB flash drive?).'
