Review: Coast C5795 11 Function Multi-Tool Deluxe - The Gadgeteer

Coast-C5795-11-Function-Multi-Tool.jpg

The Gadgeteer have published a review of the Coast C5795 11 Function Multi-Tool Deluxe. 'The thickness of the C5795 is 1 inch, which is pretty thick for a tool that you need to grasp in your hand in order to use it. Comparing it with two of my favorite mulit-tools, the Gerber MP800 and the SOG S63 EOD PowerLock, it definitely felt less comfortable gripped in my hand. This tool does have plastic grips, but they aren’t soft and the edges aren’t rounded enough to be comfortable in hand. I have soft girly hands, so I may just be a wimp, but I would guess that even someone with callused hands would not find the grips on this tool to be optimal after several minutes of use.'

Lock-grip Pliers Tested - Auto Express

Draper-88293.jpg

Auto Express have published their review of twelve sets of lock grip pliers. 'Ideally a set should have at least four pairs of pliers with flat, curved and long nose jaws, as well as one compact tool. To test their mettle, we tried to loosen wheel nuts tightened to various torques. After these tests, we made sure the adjuster screws still worked perfectly – as threads on some can fail after hard usage. Extra points were awarded for those supplied with cases or wallets, wide opening jaws on the larger tools and overall performance from the wire cutter.'

Husky 5-in-1 Drywall Tool Review - Toolmonger

Husky-5-in-1-Drywall-Tool.jpg

A “Hands on” review of the Husky 5-in-1 Drywall Tool has been posted over at Toolmonger. ‘To test the 5-in-1, we built a wall simulator — a free-standing “wall” with a few electrical boxes inside covered completely with fresh drywall. Then we tried cutting holes for those boxes. It’s a relatively easy task: locate the box. Punch a hole. Twist the corner. Saw out the rough hole. Surprisingly, the 5-in-1 features tools for all these steps. While the Husky’s saw-without-a-point can’t poke a hole, the tube/seal punch awl makes a fine hole. We were concerned that prying with the saw might snap it, but the tool’s pry bar is quite sturdy. Switching between the tools is a bit annoying, though.’
