PC Magazine have published a review of the Smartronix PatchTest and LinkCheck cable testers. 'If you're a desktop support staffer, one of the more dreaded calls you can receive starts with "I can't see the network." The trick is elimination: Eliminate each possible problem one at a time—the definition of "tedious" as it pertains to the IT guy. But for those looking for a quick resolution to such problems, there are dedicated tools that are easy to use and won't break your IT budget—notably, PatchTest and LinkCheck, a couple of near-flawless little network diagnostic gadgets from Smartronix.

Antec-P180.jpg

A review of the Antec P180 PC case has been posted over at PC Authority. 'The front door has a double hinge to allow it to fold back flat against the side of the case. It reveals power and reset buttons, along with one 3.5in and four 5.25in bays. Two grilles swing open to provide access to the two clip-on dust filters – an invaluable feature if you want to prevent the fans blowing large amounts of dust onto your components. Inside, things are supremely neat with two removable drive cages, one of which holds two hard disks horizontally with quick-release rails, and the other providing space for four disks on their sides with rubber grommets to isolate vibrations.'

'The Corsair VX450W power supply supports the latest ATX12V v2.2 standard and is rated for a combined, continuous output power of up to 450 watts at 50°C operating temperature. That’s important as some less reputable manufactures limit their power supply’s advertised capacity by specifying a lower operating temperature (25°C) in the fine print. The PSU includes universal AC line input (automatically adjusts the AC line voltage) and active PFC, which makes the unit more environmentally friendly. The VX4500W utilizes double-forward switching circuitry that provides up to 85% efficiency over a wide load range.'
