Miller Electric Mfg. Co has introduced the new MP-10 line of welding helmets which are available in Inferno graphic or basic black design and uses industry-standard 4.5 x 5.25 in. filter plates allowing interchangeable use of shades from No. 9-13. 'The MP-10 helmet uses the same shell as Miller's Elite Series auto-darkening helmets, but uses a passive lens. The MP-10, which weighs only 18 oz., features a large 16 sq.-in. viewing area, excellent skin coverage and a magnifying lens holder for "cheater" lenses, which can provide a better view of the weld puddle. An optional hardhat adapter is also available.'

The new Hobart Handler 210 MIG welder from Hobart Welding Products plugs into a standard 230 VAC outlet and can weld mild steel up to 3/8 in. and aluminum up to ¼ in. 'The Handler 210 comes out of the box ready to weld with our without a shielding gas. Unlike units for "gasless" flux cored welding only, the Handler features a built-in gas valve and comes with a dual gauge regulator and gas hose. This enables the user to MIG weld with gas-shielded solid wires--the preferred method for thinner metals and stainless steel and required for aluminum--without purchasing additional kits. A built-in contactor keeps the welding wire electrically cool until the trigger is pulled. Without this feature, the wire would arc if touched to the work-piece.'

Miller Electric Mfg Co. has launced the new Miller Pro-Hobby Series Auto-Darkening Helmets which are targeted at "budget conscious" welders. 'Designed for professional and production welders who weld for extended periods nearly everyday, the Performance series helmets feature three arc sensors that darken the lens between shade #8-13 in 1/20,000 of a second. The Performance line also has Miller's Auto-On/Auto-Off feature, which activates the lens shade without having to manually turn the helmet on, and grind mode, which stops the lens from darkening while grinding.

The new Millermatic 180 All-In-One MIG Welder incorporates Smooth-Start technology which facilitates a smooth, spatter-free start 'The Millermatic 180 (single-phase 230V input; 135 A at 22VDC, 30% duty cycle output) has enough power to weld 5/16-in. mild steel in a single pass. It replaces the Millermatic 175, which had a 1/4-in. mild steel capability. The Millermatic 180 also features infinite voltage control with manual on/off wire feed speed tracking. When turned on, wire feed speed tracking automatically adjusts wire feed speed when the voltage is adjusted, providing a broader operating range without having to adjust two controls. When off, wire feed speed and voltage controls act independently, which is preferred by some customers.'

If there is one stand-out feature associated with the use of soft water it is the soothing effect the water has on your skin.
