Innovative saw makes cutting hardwood, laminate and engineered flooring a breeze

MT. PROSPECT, Ill. - Nothing completes the look of a room like new wood flooring. Available in many finishes and styles, wood flooring provides durability and style in a way that's hard to match. However, installing these floors can be exhausting, back-breaking work and the tools needed to support the installation can be expensive - typical wood flooring projects require a miter saw to cut planks to length and a table saw to cut them to width. If the planks are wider than 5.5 inches, either a 12-inch miter saw or a 10-inch sliding miter saw is needed. When starting an installation project, users have to either haul both saws from the workshop or garage to their installation site, or they must run back and forth to make all of the cuts needed until the project is complete. The Professional Power Tool Guide have publshed a review of the Skil Lithium Ion 18V Combo Kit - Model 2895LI-20. 'When Skil designed this system, they designed it for the homeowner which means they could make these tools lighter and a lot more affordable for the DIY enthusiast. The kit comes with four main power tools - a drill, Skilsaw, reciprocating saw and a flashlight. The kit also comes with two Lithium Ion batteries, a charger and carrying case, which is a nylon tool bag. The accessories are a 5 - 3/8″ circular saw blade, a double ended bit and 2 reciprocating saw blades. So in essence Skil provides you with everything you need to get started on a home improvement project.'

A review of the Skil 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 4-Piece Combo Kit has been posted over at the ToolSnob. 'First off, this thing really impressed us. We put it head to head with the Ryobi li-ion and it kept up without any problem. The Ryobi felt a little more durable, but when it came to driving screws or drilling holes, the Skil was right there. The tool has a number of interesting features such as level vials, very nice bit storage, and a handle that can screw into either side. We've never really used the side mounted handles that come with drill/drivers, but if you want to have the option, it's there. The drill also has two speeds and a 20 position clutch.'
